On September 3, a delegation led by Lester Bouah, Director-General of Investment Mobilization at South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, and Mark Cawood Dunningk, Senior Portfolio Manager for Green Economy at the Western Cape Investment and Trade Promotion Agency, revisited the Global Service Center Go Global to hold the "South Africa-Shenzhen (Nanshan) Closed-Door Economic and Trade Exchange Meeting."
In June of this year, South African Deputy President Mashatile led a delegation to Nanshan, where they conducted an on-site visit to the Global Service Center Go Global and the first overseas office established by South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition at the center, and held business discussions and other economic and trade activities. This return visit by the delegation is a direct response to the outcomes of the Deputy President's visit, marking a further deepening of China-South Africa local economic and trade cooperation toward project implementation under the guidance of high-level consensus.
The South African delegation anchored itself in key cooperation areas and returned to Nanshan with an industrial cooperation list, as the pace of economic and trade cooperation between the two sides continued to accelerate. During the closed-door exchange session, the South African delegation held in-depth discussions with five Shenzhen Nanshan enterprises in succession, including Bamboocloud Technology, Sinexcel Electric, and Narwal Robotics. Focusing on South Africa's most urgent development needs, they conducted one-on-one matchmaking in areas such as the digital economy and innovation ecosystem, new energy and green transportation, and smart homes, identifying key tracks for future cooperation.

In the field of the digital economy and innovation ecosystem, as a leading enterprise in China's digital identity and access management (IAM) sector, Bamboocloud showcased its core identity governance capabilities for digital government and large organizations. The two sides exchanged views on South Africa's practical needs in areas such as digital identity systems, electronic visas, social welfare systems, and data compliance, jointly exploring points of cooperation.
From High-Level Consensus to Precise Matchmaking: A Clear Cooperation Trajectory
The precise focus and efficient matchmaking of this closed-door exchange were built on the solid foundation laid by a series of prior high-level interactions. In November 2025, South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition and the Global Service Center signed a memorandum of understanding, officially establishing the department's first overseas office at the center. In June of this year, South African Deputy President Mashatile attended the 4th China International Supply Chain Expo and made a special visit to Shenzhen Nanshan, explicitly stating South Africa's desire to build more advanced industrial chains in areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge emerging technologies. He repeatedly emphasized the bridging role of the Global Service Center and encouraged more Chinese enterprises to enter the African market.
As a major economic district, a strong science and technology district, and an innovation highland of Shenzhen, Nanshan District possesses unique advantages in policy support, capital matchmaking, and market application scenarios. It is precisely through the sustained momentum of this series of high-level consensus that this return visit was able to rapidly translate from a strategic blueprint into industrial action, enabling China-South Africa cooperation to find a solid supporting fulcrum at the local level.
Go Global's Full-Chain Empowerment Precisely Addresses Enterprises' Overseas Expansion Pain Points
As the organizer of this exchange meeting, the Global Service Center Go Global, a comprehensive international service platform developed with key support from the Nanshan District Committee and District Government, has played a critical role as a "resource linker" in advancing China-South Africa cooperation. Leveraging the physical operation of the first overseas satellite office of South Africa's Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the center has established a two-way service mechanism with the South Africa-Shenzhen General Chamber of Commerce, providing enterprises with full-chain support from market research to localized operations. It also offers professional consulting on practical issues in the investment process such as legal compliance, tax planning, and labor policy, significantly lowering the threshold and risks for enterprises "going global," giving Shenzhen enterprises greater confidence and direction in expanding into the African market.
The successful holding of this exchange meeting not only further consolidated the institutional foundation of China-South Africa local economic and trade cooperation but also provided an important opportunity for Shenzhen enterprises to deeply integrate into the African market.
